Move Over, Solidity: The Future of Smart Contracts is Here with zkMove Rollup on EVM
MOVE is making its way to EVM with their ongoing testnet boasting over 30M transactions in less than 2 weeks.
They raised $38M and M2, a zkMove-based Ethereum rollup, is set to launch later this year.
I had a chat with the co-founder @coopsmoves and he spills the inside scoop.
Here’s the alpha you need to know👇🧵
Overview of the Movement
At its core, Movement Labs isn’t introducing a new layer one or layer two. Instead, they’re integrating the next-gen smart contract language, MOVE, into existing blockchains without requiring users to leave their ecosystem, bridge assets, or download new infrastructure.
They’re collaborative, not competitive.
Their recent testnet metrics gone wild and in less than 2 weeks they’ve achieved:
30M total transactions
1.4M active addresses
38 dApps

Broadly, Movement is great for AI use cases. Here's why:
MoveVM power + efficiency
Seamless handling of massive transaction volumes
Peerless security of Move
Ultra-high throughput of BlockSTM parallelization
Uniting EVM and Move ecosystems
What is M1?
M1 is the “work core” of the Movement Network, designed to be the pinnacle of modularity.
M1 is a decentralized sequencer that extends Snowman consensus to any blockchain, app chain, or network within the Movement framework.
Thanks to Snowman consensus, M1 offers the fastest and most scalable mechanism for processing.
What is M2?
M2 is Movement’s mainnet, a zero-knowledge (ZK) Move-based Ethereum rollup.
It’s where applications will deploy, leveraging the decentralized infrastructure provided by M1 to deliver fast finality, scalability, and the best consensus mechanism.
Why MOVE?
MOVE is faster, more secure, and more scalable than existing languages like Solidity.
It supports native parallel processing (hitting up to 140,000 TPS) and includes enhanced security features to prevent reentrancy attacks and other common vulnerabilities.
Solidity to Move
Movement Labs has developed tools like Fractal as part of the Move stack, allowing existing Solidity applications to upgrade seamlessly without leaving their network or requiring extensive engineering effort to learn Move.
Attracting Apps
Exciting announcements are on the horizon, including programs where teams can apply for guaranteed TVL on day one of mainnet—even before any potential token launch!
Movement Validators
Movement Labs is making validation more accessible by removing the high barriers to entry, like expensive hardware or massive financial investments. They’re working on innovative ways to allow more people to become validators.
Projects in the Movement Ecosystem
Here are some projects already in the Movement ecosystem:
