Nillion operates through 2 parallel, interdependent networks: the Coordination Layer and the Processing Layer .
Processing Layer (Petnet) - P2P nodes form compute clusters.
Coordination Layer (NilChain) - Blockchain execution environment for payments
The NilChain network manages payments for storage operations within the system, while the Petnet utilizes privacy enhancing technologies (PETs) like MPC to safeguard data at rest and enable secure, blind computations on that data.
