1. Macro News

Key indicators point to Fed likely pausing interest rates in the near future, as inflation shows early signs of moderating. However, the Fed will continue monitoring data closely to determine the appropriate pace of future hikes.

The EU is balancing security concerns with maintaining economic engagement with China. Equity markets remain sensitive to signals about economic growth and the policy outlook.

• U.S. inflation rose slightly in July but less than expected, supporting arguments for the Fed to potentially pause interest rate hikes at their September meeting. Core inflation also declined, providing further evidence of slowing price pressures.

• The EU is taking a more restrained approach to investment restrictions on China compared to the U.S., given Europe's deeper economic ties. The EU plans to introduce a proposal by year-end focused on investment screening versus outright bans.

• U.S. stocks were mixed on Wednesday, with minor declines in the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq. Long-dated Treasury yields rose slightly at a bond auction. Asian equities climbed, due to China's decision to resume outbound travel, boosting consumer and travel-related shares.

2. Trending Narratives

Crypto markets remain rangebound but some positive developments like PayPal's stablecoin launch, cooler inflation, and Coinbase's earnings beat and network launch point to continuing adoption and maturation of the space. The inflation data particularly eased concerns about potential restrictive Fed policy in the near-term.

• Bitcoin and Ether continue trading in a rangebound manner between $29k-$30k and around the $1,850 level respectively.

• PayPal launched its own stablecoin, PayPal USD (PYUSD), expanding its crypto services and aiming to gain market share in crypto payments.

• July inflation data came in cooler than expected at 0.2% month-over-month, easing concerns about aggressive Fed rate hikes. Stocks mildly higher on the news.

• Coinbase launched its Ethereum layer-2 network Base to the general public after a beta test. It also beat Q2 earnings expectations and announced a bond repurchase plan after strong results.

Ranges and low volatility persist but select altcoins pumping on announcements, narratives, low caps/floats. Memecoins and gambling coins strong.

• DWF Labs pumped and dumped YGG token through perp trading and spot selling. Other "scammy" coins like C98 and DODO saw similar price action.

• Rollbit's RLB token pumped 50% on buyback/burn announcement, boosting other gambling/casino tokens like WINR and DMT.

• Perp DEX tokens mostly downdue to low volatility except SNX, DYDX, GNS. GMX launched v2 but price unchanged.

• Memecoins like SHIB, PEPE, UNIBOT, TOSHI outperforming amid low volatility. PEPE could flip SHIB next bull run.

• APT pumped on Microsoft partnership announcement before unlock. Base launch boosted OP but euphoria fading after BALD rug.

• SpartaDex new gamified DEX on Arbitrum launched SPARTA but high FDV vs supply. EMP also shilled heavily.

• AKT and RNDR outperforming on GPU/AI narrative.
